I am truly honored to receive this recognition for my work as an artist. Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most eminent artists in history, and to be acknowledged with a prize in his name is an incredible privilege. I am grateful to the selection committee for recognizing my artistic achievements, and I look forward to attending the ceremony in 2023. This award will inspire me to continue creating meaningful art that resonates with people around the world.

Backhaus has been interested in art since childhood and pursued his passion by studying at the University of Gothenburg’s School of Design and Crafts. He has since developed a unique style that blends abstract expressionism with elements of pop art and graffiti. Backhaus’ paintings are characterized by bold colors, dynamic shapes, and energetic brushstrokes.
His work is inspired by the urban environment and the energy of the city. Backhaus often incorporates graffiti elements into his paintings, such as spray paint, stencils, and text. He also draws inspiration from music, particularly hip-hop and electronic music, which he listens to while he paints.
Backhaus’ paintings are not only visually striking but also convey a sense of movement and rhythm. His work can be seen as a visual representation of music, with each brushstroke and color representing a beat or melody.
In addition to his paintings, Backhaus has also worked on large-scale murals and installations. His public art can be seen in cities throughout Europe and Asia.
Overall, Backhaus’ work is a celebration of color, energy, and movement. His paintings are a testament to the power of abstract art to convey emotion and capture the spirit of the urban environment.
